Considering moving here? New resident? Welcome to the community!
The Little Acorn Newsletter began in the Ancient Oak neighborhood over 30 years ago. It is now published quarterly, in March, June, September, and December, by the The Darnestown Civic Association, Inc., a nonprofit corporation formed in 1967 that represents the interests of Darnestown residents in matters pertaining to the welfare of the community and its residents. The DCA also also holds quarterly Town Meetings and publishes a printed telephone directory of Darnestown residents.
Community Boundaries: Darnestown is about twenty miles northwest of Washington, DC, along the Potomac river, in Montgomery county, Maryland. Because it's not incorporated its boundaries are not statutory, although they are defined and communicated to county officials. The 2000 Census showed over 6,700 residents in an area of some 12 square miles centered approximately at the intersection of Darnestown Rd. (Rt. 28) and Seneca Rd. (Rt. 112).
Don't overlook the many Organizations, Clubs, Groups, PTAs, etc., some of which are listed in the Groups section. Also, see the To Do Forum. |
